Suspected sockpuppets

edit

After being made aware of the mess that has become of Lee Min-ho (actor) and The King: Eternal Monarch, I almost immediately suspected sockpuppetry was at play and dug deeper. First, Finrell ausi was created on May 16, Ginglepio on May 17, and Surozee on May 18, Patrick spanish on May 19, Patrickwife on May 20. Their edits are almost entirely contained to these two articles. Second, these users are strangely obsessed with adding puffery: Finrell ausi with "It was praised for its parallel universe concept and it is the #7th top rated show of 2020 on Netflix."; Ginglepio with "It is ranked #1 among U.S shows, an achievement in the Korean-drama history."; Surozee with "The drama ranks #19 in world most popular TV shows 2020 on Netflix making it the only South Korean drama to ever make the list. The drama is popular among international viewers ranging from Asian, Western and African.", Pipetyon with The drama is termed as a "hit Netflix drama".", Patrickwife and Patrick spanish with this mess and that mess, respectively. Rachaelgrooms made a single edit, which was reverted but re-instated by Ginglepio. There are several SPA in both page's histories, but they're harder to pin down to this particular group of users. We need another sweep, as newly created SPAs have popped up at Kim Go-eun to add the same puffery Finrell ausi and his various socks had done. ƏXPLICIT 00:40, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please also check User:Lizzydarcy2008 as they were a sleeper account that activated recently only to add disruptive edits to The King: Eternal Monarch. If not related to Finrell ausi, they might be related to Surozee (also See) or Buckwheatflower. CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 22:33, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

From User:Lizzydarcy2008:
May I request Wikipedia:Administrators to review my discussions about The King Eternal Monarch in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:CherryPie94#Reply_to_7th_email_about_The_King_Eternal_Monarch

All I requested for was to make this page not look like another poorly-written criticism of this drama. I was a voracious reader of encyclopedias before the internet came along and had expected Wikipedia to have the same integrity. Instead, I am afraid it is being used as a tool to blacken entities. As long as the negativity conforms to rules, e.g. verifiable, it is allowed. There is no asking: of all the thousand information about the entity that we are trying to fit into this one page, is that information more important than the other information we are leaving out? Are we being fair to this entity? Is this negative information found in other entities that encountered the same issue? That second paragraph in The King Eternal Monarch page did not answer those questions thus I removed it. It will be noted that the budget is already mentioned in another portion of the page; highlighting it is malicious. The rest of the discussions was trying to arrive at a compromise - leave the negative paragraph in but adopt a less negative tone. In short, try to make it sound more like an encyclopedia than a tabloid.

I have a full time job thus, so far, have only ever tried to intervene when I read Wiki pages that make me pause and ask those questions above; when I feel like I am reading a tabloid, not an encyclopedia.

Thanks and regards, Lizzydarcy2008 (talk) 17:23, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All are newly made account that seem to know what they are doing. They all add almost the same thing too on the same page citing unreliable sources, see Diff #1, Diff #2 and Diff #3. Jingos7 account was made on Sept 5, Saurashi account was made on Sept 6, and Dimplee account was made on Sept 7. CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 15:23, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I highly suspect Finrell ausi is back at it again. Typical puffery nonsense added to articles related to Lee Min-ho ( "global actor") and the creation of List of wax figures of Lee Min-ho displayed at various places. What makes it even more obvious is the tag teaming of brand new users who suddenly appeared within a similar time frame and edit the same articles. Pachinko (2021) was created by Photoby55 and moved less than an hour later by Myhometownkorea. The first investigation uncovered 26 socks, so another sweep is merited.
